Slovakia is an optimal choice to receive a residence permit in a European country.
First, this is advantageous irrespective of your plans. You can move to the country temporarily or constantly, solely or together with your family. You can also use your residence permit in Slovakia to run a business or travel across Europe. Each of the options provides comfortable conditions for achieving your goals, from the geographic location of the country to loyal domestic laws.
Second, this is easy. Slovakia is friendlier towards the newcomers than any other state of the European Union. On the contrary, in Slovakia, it is still possible to get a residence permit and then a permanent residence permit. If you plan to move to a European state, we advise you to make use of this opportunity while it exists. Moreover, Slovakia has not one but four options to get a residence permit. For each of them, we provide well-qualified support.

All foreigners who want to move to live in Slovakia face the procedure for obtaining a residence permit (temporary residence permit).
A temporary residence permit can be obtained for different purposes. This could be:
An application for a residence permit in Slovakia can be submitted by both visa-free foreigners and residents of those countries for which a visa is required to enter Slovak territory.
A mandatory requirement for obtaining a residence permit in Slovakia is the confirmation of no criminal record for all persons over 14 years of age.
It is also mandatory to provide confirmation of the presence of the minimum allowed amount in the bank account. According to the law of Slovakia “On Residence of Foreigners”, a residence permit can be obtained by someone who confirms his financial status with certificates of the availability of funds in two accounts: personal and business.
The personal account must contain an amount based on at least a monthly subsistence rate for each month of residence for each adult and half of the subsistence rate for each child. At the same time, a personal account can be opened both in Slovakia and abroad.
With a business account, several options are possible.
2.1. If you register as a private entrepreneur (živnostník, podnikateľ), then the amount on the account must be not less than 20 subsistence rates.
2.2. If you register an LLC (SRO), then the account must have an amount of at least 100 subsistence rates.
If the purpose of immigration to Slovakia is employment, then in order to obtain a residence permit, you must provide an official invitation to work. First, it is important to find an employer who is ready to provide you with a job and officially confirm this with a document. If you decide to apply first for a residence permit for the purpose of employment, and then to look for an employer, in this case, such an application will be refused.

Obtaining a residence permit by citizens of countries with a visa regime
Both visa-free foreigners and citizens of countries for which there is a visa regime for entry to Slovakia can apply for a residence permit. Visa foreigners – citizens of Russia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan – must first apply for a Slovak visa.
Differences in obtaining a residence permit for citizens with a visa-free and visa regime are small. So, if citizens with a visa-free regime of entry apply for a residence permit at the Slovak police, then visa foreigners can do this at the Slovak consulate of their country.
The second option is that citizens with a visa regime of entry can apply for a national visa D. Having received a national visa, they can come to the country and, already on its territory, apply to the foreign police of Slovakia for a residence permit with a national visa.
Visa D is issued by the consulate of Slovakia in the applicant’s country of residence. The basis for obtaining it can be:
