Opening a bank account

Opening a bank account in Slovakia with an Internet banking system and issuing bank cards for individuals and legal entities, with and without a residence permit.

The banking system in Slovakia is characterized by stability and security, which is confirmed in times of crisis. There are 13 banks with a Slovak legal address and 14 representative offices of foreign banks registered in Slovakia. Deposits up to 100,000 euros in Slovak banks are fully insured. The conditions for depositors do not depend on their citizenship – the same deposit insurance conditions apply to citizens of Slovakia, Russia or Ukraine.

Opening a bank account in Slovakia gives the client all the advantages of a bank account in Europe:

  •   together with the account, you get Internet banking, which can be used to make payments from anywhere in the world to different countries without amount restrictions;
  •   there is no need to obtain approval of transactions with the bank – you do all transactions yourself through the bank – client system;
  • the Internet banking is available in English and Slovak, there are also Russian-language versions;
  •     you get a Visa or MasterCard card for the account;
  •     the account can be opened not only in euros, but also in other currencies.

As for opening an account in a Slovak bank for foreigners, there are no restrictions as such. However, there are differences in the requirements of each bank: in some you need to fill out a lot of questionnaires or wait for the approval of the central administration; there are banks in which personal presence is required to register an account, and somewhere you can open an account by proxy.

Europass company works with all banks in the Slovak market. We are studying changes in the legislation and the ever-changing rules of operation of banks in the EU. Our specialists keep in touch with banks every day and know where it is best to open an account in each individual case.
